Engineered Nanofibers™
The potential applications for electrospun nano fibers are many. Most early research has focused on using a small number of spraying needle tips ( including just one!) to produce small "feasibility" samples. To produce commercial products , it will be necessary to produce consistent spinning from a large number of Taylor cone spinning tips. Producing such practical spinning arrays and mating them with appropriate liquids for novel production applications is what we do.
NanoStatics is being formed to commercialize a high production scale advanced manufacturing process to produce composite products engineered with nanomaterials. The NanoStatics’ electrospinning process (Patent Pending) allows the forming of nanofibers of various polymers and inorganic materials in a continuous web in a highly controlled process at uniquely high production rates. This process can be used to produce products for applications including controlled adhesion, air/solid separation, weatherable substrates, surface release, liquid/solid separation, adsorption, surfaces with unique optical characteristics, printing characteristics, conductivity, controlled permeability, and durability. These nanofibers are applied in line onto other preformed substrates or other electrospun webs resulting in composite materials that have unique properties including pore structure, surface functionality, electrical functionality, resistance to environmental conditions, all done with a very low use of materials to achieve functional results. The NanoStatics process is an advanced manufacturing technology that will enable production of new advanced categories of composite materials not available today in the scale necessary to serve larger markets.
Even though electrospinning has been around for 20 years or more, no one has been able to provide a manufacturing process of a scale and productivity that would allow anything other than the manufacture of very high efficiency separation media or high end biochemical and conductive materials. NanoStatics partners have developed a highly controlled electrohydrodynamic process which is scaleable both in width and speed of application. Products and Services Offered By NanoStatics
NanoStatics has pilot and limited production scale equipment to do: · Product development for the client · Pre launch limited production to get sales into the market prior to equipment startup. · Research and development on new advanced materials NanoStatics was formed as a developer of high technology advanced manufacturing systems using EHS technology. The management of NanoStatics have significant background in materials, electronics, physics, chemistry, composites and engineering. They represent a significant resource pool for developing new materials. 2. Design, Build, Install and Startup EHS Coating Systems NanoStatics will design, build, install and startup EHS coating and surface treating equipment under Development Agreements with clients. The Development Agreement has several advantages for the client · It allows the client to provide extensive input throughout the design and building of the equipment. · It permits equipment design to be specific for the client needs. · During the Development Agreement time, the client can use the NanoStatics pilot facilities and engineering/product development expertise to parallel path product development. · It allows the client to learn the operation to enable very fast start up and commercial manufacturing. Once the equipment is on the clients floor, there are no surprises. The completion of the Development Agreement results in an operational EHS system on the clients site and appropriate licenses to use the NanoStatics technology.
NanoStatics will engineer and deliver complete coating systems including media feed, chemical feed, EHS generator, power supply, drives, finished media sheet or roll system and controls. For retrofitting an EHS generator on to an existing line, NanoStatics can engineer any line modifications or simply provide a unit that fits into an existing space. EHS coating units are compact, require no drying or long path for the media to follow and use remarkably little power. EHS Technology Electrospinning has been limited in scale due to difficulties in controlling the formation of the nanofiber webs consistently across surfaces wider than 24 inches and at application speeds greater than 20 feet per minute. This is due to a combination of limitations of the science, including fluid dynamics and electrical charge control. NanoStatics has solved the science. The NanoStatics Intellectual Property (Patent Pending) covers the fundamental fluid dynamics and electrostatic charge control systems to allow this technology to be scaled to productivity levels approaching 10 times that of current state of the art. This is breakthrough innovation in advanced manufacturing will greatly broaden the use of the electrospinning coating process.
